A young legend tripper and ghost hunter was found dead in an abandoned church in Italy's Asota Valley. The condition of her body points to a sinister motive for her untimely death.
On April 5, 2024, the 22-year-old told her family she was going ghost hunting when she left her village near Lyon. Police believe it might be connected to a TikTok stunt involving urbex of haunted locations.
A local resident came across the decomposing body of Auriane Nathalie Laisne by the nave in a dark corner. There were marks next to the body indicating she was dragged inside. There were no signs of a struggle. She didn't have a cellular phone, or any type of identification. Next to the body, police found some groceries and a bag of pink marshmallows bought at a local store. The autopsy found she had been stabbed in the abdomen and had a deep cut in her neck, which accounted as to why the body was drained of blood. The wounds are believed to have been caused by a camping knife, but could not be self-inflicted. She bled to death due to the wounds. There's conflicting information as to her being shot after she was dead. There is a theory she was sacrificed or consented to her own murder in the deconsecrated church. The police took a large stone with bloodstains on it from the scene.
The suspect, Teima Sohaib, 21, has been arrested and it was found he already had a pending trial for acts of violence against the victim. Sohaib Teima is thought to have killed Auriane Nathalie Laisne between March 26 and 27. Her body was found on April 5.
Sohaib had an outstanding international arrest warrant on charges of murder. He grew up in Italy of Egyptian origins, and he holds three citizenships: Italian, Egyptian and Moroccan. He lives in the town of Saint-Priest in the Lyons area, and was studying dentistry. There was an outstanding warrant for him since the end of March for "violation of judicial control". There are two other missing person cases in the area, which police are considering might be related. The woman with the male friend was seen walking around the area, both of them dressed like vampires or in the goth style. A witness told authorities the woman was pale, emaciated and looked like "a walking corpse". When discovered she was wearing a sweatshirt, beige leggings and a long, dark coat. The small chapel dedicated to Santa Barbara was abandoned since 1879 when the villagers of Equilivaz sheltered there when a flood dragged boulders and trees through the town. The only other clue was a burgundy van filmed by a surveillance camera near the church the week before, and it's unknown if it's connected in any way to the crime. Auriane's father made the following statement, in which he refers to Teima as executioner: Auriane had the courage to try to make her executioner better, despite his lies and the desire to remove her from her family. She found the courage to endure constant violence. She had the courage to think first of us, her family and then of her. Now I have to stand up so that this femicide didn't happen in vain.
Ludweig Laisne, Auriane's father accuses Teima with whom his daughter had a two-year relationship of killing her, and that before the murder she had endured "violence, threats and ill treatment."
In the letter that he wrote he asks why Teima already accused in France for abuse, and had a "ban on approach" was able to get close to his daughter and take her with him to Valle d'Aosta. He also questions why he was not wearing an electronic bracelet as was requested in a February pre-trial detention. This also allowed Teima to escape, until he was arrested on April, 10 in Lyon. In May, 2024 the Grenoble court sentenced Teima to 6 months in prison, and non-entry into France for 10 years for the original case against him for abuse of Auriane. At the trial were presented two complaints for abuse that included photos of bruises on the Auriane's body. The prosecutors stressed that he treated Auriane like an object, with the right of life or death over her. Teima denies hitting the girl or killing her. Ludweig Laisne in his letter also describes how Teima's aunt and cousin came to his house to convince his daughter to withdraw the complaint against him. Ludweig calls Teima's mother an accomplice since she reproached Auriane for not being obedient and kind enough. The Grenoble court approved extradition of Teima to Italy via an European arrest warrant for murder; what is not known is whether this will take place at the end of sentence in November, 2024 or before then. No other information has been provided as to the status of this case. One only hopes that Auriane will receive justice.
